2000 FORD EXPLORER SPORT
its the black knob/dial looking thing in the pic. its kinda right in the middle. i can turn it both ways freely and it never tightens up or loosens any.just spins. it has 2 hoses running off the bottom. my truck is a 2000 4.0l ohv.

That is the egr vacuum regulator. The part you are turning is merely a vent cap.

oh ok. it dosen't matter turning it does it?
 






It looks like there is no vacuum line connected to your EGR valve. Your engine valves will last longer with a functional EGR system.

oh its there, i just took it off to move things over to get a pic.
 


















The orientation of the vent cap on the EGR vacuum regulator should not matter.

ok, sounds good. like i said, it just turns both ways with out the cap going up or down. and it doesn't get tighter or looser.
 






It is just snapped on
