Im buying a boat, so I need to put a trailer hitch on my explorer, I never needed one before cause I just pulled my motorcycles with my ranger, but the ranger wont pull the boat, so I need one on my explorer, I was looking at the hidden hitch round tube one that goes up behind the bumper, and it has a Class 4 rating on it, and its 139.00 shipped to my door, what are you all using?>

I have a round tube Hidden Hitch but it has a Class III rating though. I am pleased with it. It is much stonger than the bumper and hasn't let me down.

I have the exact same thing as Robert and I'm very happy with it. Total with tube and ball installed was $230.

This is a really bad picture and I don't have that stupid back-up light anymore, but it'll give you the idea how the hitch looks.

I have a James Duff rear reciever bumper, so the hitch is actually built into the bumper. I attached the bumper to my BII with grade 10 bolts and I use a Reese 6" drop hitch and 2" ball. I tow a 78 Bayliner and it works perfect. Having the hitch built into the bumper really gives it a solid feel compared to my old hidden hitch, and it doesnt hang down so it's not in the way off road....

I love it!

I have two Explorers with two different class III hitches. My 93 has a square bar Reese hitch and my 96 has the roung tube Hidden Hitch. Really have not pulled with the 96 and Hidden Hitch, but have pulled 40-50K with the 93 Explorer and Reese hitch. So far, not any problems with the Reese. And it has seen hard, tough pulling! The round Hidden Hitch looks better in my opinion on 95 & up Explorers but some like the looks of a square hitch with the first generation Explorers, since they have more square lines, ect.. Mike

I too run a Class III Hidden Hitch, Narry a problem.

Good luck.....

I have a Draw-tite roundtube Class III/IV hitch on my '97 Moutaineer. Tough as balls. I've pulled many a trailers and even pulled (jerked) out vehicles and machines out of the mud many times, such as a diesel forklift and a few Z-71s. Like I said, tough as balls.

I have a square tube tow bar which is from Ford. I'm not sure if its from the US or it is made in Australia by Ford. It is rated at 2500kg. I think it looks good even though it hangs down below the bumper. It even provides protection for the spare tyre when you go up an extremely steep hill. It's usually the first thing to hit the ground so there is no risk of ripping of the rear bumper (which would be hard to do anyway) or scraping the tyre.

I have a DrawTite Class III like jjue on my 97 Muntaineer. I have not pulled much with it but where it bolts to the frame the metal plate is roughly 1/4" thick. My ran me right at $130 localy from Chux Trux.

I have a U-Haul brand (not sure who makes it for them) round style. I have pulled all kinds of things with it, including a 35' car hauler with two cars loaded on it (granted it was only for 15 miles, but it was still fun as hell :D)
