93' XLT
i just bought a 93 XLT explorer, its stock except for the warn manual hubs i jsut put in it. All the offroading i am into now is some moderate mud-bogging. 2 - 3 ft of mud and about 100 yard tall at a 45 degree angle dirt hill i want to drive up and down.

What upgrades would you recomend fist, i have to upgrade in stages because I dont have the money to drop 10,000 on my car. I use the car alot in town

Thanks

Welcome to the site. Most people start with a K&n FIPK, then more free flowing exhaust. A lot of people on the board like the Superchip, over the other chips. It all depends on what you are looking for. Are you planning on lifting and adding larger tires?

To drive in that you are going to need a decent lift and tires/wheels. I am by no means an expert on that though. Do some research on lifts and see what you are after.

A little advice, decide what you want to use the vehicle for. When lifting, buying tires and wheels it is cheapest to do it once. Also when adding traction equipment (gears and lockers) is is cheapest to do it when you do the lift. Adding a big lift and tires will make the truck less streetable and increase operating costs.
The best modification for you at this point is a savings account and this site.

The KKN filter is cheaper than the K & N (info on the site).

Generally, for the engine you would start with a K&N/KKM filter, then get a free flowing cat-back exhaust. After those you can add a 70mm MAF and a 66mm throttle body. If you want to add a chip do it after those mods. If you plan on lifting and increasing tire sizes, you might have to change axle gear ratios. Like unclemeat said, plan what you want first and start saving for it now. Oh yeah, welcome to the site.
