Well I know it's not really explorer related, but my friend and I were makeing some big smokies in his 94 mustang GT (5.0) manual. Well anyway, I'm not exactly sure what he was doing, but I assume he was holding the clutch in when he thought he had moved his foot to the brake, well it got up to 6k rpm, and I'm thinking wtf is going on. Then we hear a loud *CLUNK* the tires scream and we jump forward. Well turns out he shattered the pressure plate.

what a dumb thing to do to a nice car

It actually wasn't that bad of a thing to do. His clutch was supposed to be replaced about 6 months ago, but when they got it apart they found that it hadn't been replaced. So his parents ended up paying the ~$800 to get it fixed, and checked out. So he wasn't really out anything, other than having to go a couple of days without it. So he managed to get his way out of it without taking any blame for it.

his parents paid for it?! damn must be nice being young and having no real life responsibility... i beat the crap out of my truck, dont get me wrong, but i dont have the luxury of pawning off my stupidity on mom and pops, the endless bank.....

yeah too right Jim
