what oil to use

hi all.
i just bought a 2000 explorer. a week later i lost drive.. before that you had to put it in 1st then rev it for a while for it to engage... however i put a new box in yesterday.. thats not the issue..

just wondering whats the best oil to use.. i put in some fully synthetic 5-25 oil and the timing chain noise seems worse now than with the original oil.. should i be using an additive or thicker oil.. cheers all in advance

As far as the oil question, I have a 1999 sohc V6 and I switched to 20w50 which really made a diference in the rattle. No it is not gone but it is a lot less than with a lighter grade of oil.

In my SOHC I run Amsoil Signature Series 0w30.
