What oil to use

I thought zinc was more useful for cold starts in which case a pre-oiler would do the same thing only better.

What I was getting at was our motors were drawn up in the 60s, mod motors are decades newer and made for the new oil as far as clearances go.

True but that makes my point stand even more. Why is it that so many modular guys add friction modifiers because the newer oils do not have enough in them yet it's seeming guys with the old 5.0's do not?
