I picked up a 1995 Explorer Sport last week for $950. For the most part, it is in very good shape for that price, but it has one very frustrating problem. The truck came from PA, and the fuel filler neck is trashed. It is completely rusted through in spots and I can smell gas. It is setting off my CEL too. Anyway, I tried to order a new one online, but Ford discontinued the part in 2003 and no dealer in the US has one. I went to Pull-A-Part and found one 95 Explorer, but someone had hacked up the plastic sections of the filler neck assembly, effectively making it worthless. I took it to Napa anyway to see if they could crimp new sections of hose on to the metal part of the assembly, but they said there is nothing they could do about it. If anyone has successfully salvaged a 95 and up filler neck assembly that has had the plastic part cut, please let me know how to fix it. Or, if anyone has adapted the assembly from a 91-94 to work, I'd like to know that too. The 91-94 assembly just uses hose clamps to keep the rubber hoses on the metal section of the filler, but I don't know if I could make it work on my truck. Also, how long did Ford keep using this style of filler neck? All the way to 03? Thanks for any help!

You likely need a 95-01 filler assembly, I might still have my old 93. The 91-94's are larger diameter hoses, but the caps should still work the same. Good luck,
