What to do FIRST??!

Just bought my 98 XLT, all my hard-earned money through high school and I finally ought my own Explorer... Its great to see a board like this for people like us-

Anyways, just wanted to know what I should do first. I know its a personal preference thing, but what is easy and makes a dramatic improvment? I'm thinking clear lenses and hyperbulbs for front and rear... How easy is this to do and what products should I look for? Thanks for your help!

Your first performance mods (if that's your thing) should be an intake kit and a catback exhaust system. The KKM intake is good, www.kustomz.com . And for your exhaust I'd go to your local muffler shop, get a Magnaflow muffler, and a single 2.25 or 2.5" tailpipe. Good luck, and welcome!

Upgrading the headlights would be a good start. However, I think I would upgrade the intake ( with a KKM ) as well as the exhaust with a cat back ,

thanks for you early imput... As much as you guys are probably going to laugh, I'm more about looking good and sounding good than going fast... Just not my thing I guess.... As of now, I'm getting an eclipse amp (300x2) powering 2 10"JL W0s, and a smaller 150 watt to pawer the 4 stock 5x7 in the doors... Any recomendsations for a face? Thanks again!

other things I thought of...

1- Has anyone put colored bulbs in the reverse lights, since that lens is clear? I just took out the beeping from the tailight and that donned on me...hmmmm?

2- I need help with a lot of exhaust ?s if someone has the time to email me.

3- What do you guys think about Altezzas on a black 98?

4- What are the quality websites/brands for bulbs/corner lights/headlight lenses, etc...?

Again, I'm a rookie in this game (duh) and I'd appreciate any help, sorry if this is a wasted post. Thanks!

2. Depending on what you have to ask, I'll help ya...Perhaps try searching for a couple threads with good info on them...
3. There are a couple people running those, I believe Alphasylum has the same setup. You could also search this one, I'm sure there's at least a couple threads about it..
4. Can't help here either, I'm still looking for a good pair of head lights

Positive Vibes is right, first look at what you want to do, then decide whats up.

There are so many things that can be done with an "X".
They look good up in the air with big meats and they look good slammed to the ground with 20 inch thin walls attached. All is take is the right stuff but as always the right stuff take a little planning so the effect doesn't get mixed up; too much.

I decided to 1st put clear lenses on the front corners, i found those for like $37 online... Then I'll put the colored bulbs in the reverse taillight and put Altezzas in too with them... The system is goin in as soon as I can finanance it. I think I'll do the performance stuff and tires later, after i pay some of it off. Thanks for your help, keep the suggestions coming!

R U slamming this vehicle or jacking her up?
My thought is that you plan on putting her on the ground.

But, if you are going up, eighteens are too big for Off-Roading; they don’t allow enough flex. (My Opinion)

I know Weld Wheels make really nice seventeens, eighteens don't know for sure.

if i were you, id do cheap/free stuff since you sound like you dont have a huge budget. Ive been looking into this cause i pretty much have a non existant budget. one cool little detail is to change the color of your blue ovals. id do em black since the car is. i can dig up that thread if youd like it.

yeah i saw it, but im new here and dont know how to find it again... I'd love it if you could find it...

by the way, I'm not going to change the susp. at all right now-

I just changed the headlamps inside and dome light, the front is blue, and the back is red... Bummer tho, I didnt disconnect the battery, and i blew the fuse while doing it, so my windows dont roll down, or the sunroof, I'm pissed! What now, do i jusgt buy new fuses to reeplace the blown ones and then theyll work? HELP!!!

Personally, what I would do after getting any used car, is basic maintenance, tune-ups, etc....

I bought it thru a liscensed used ford lot, so they did all that before i bought it, incl. new brakes
