I have a 97 XLT 2wd with 110000 on it. I am debating whether or not I should sell it and purchase something 4wd, like another explorer, jeep, or truck, and if so, what should i consider, or if I should just keep it and save my money for something better. What type of life should I expect from my x, and if I keep it, lift it, and get a locker, should i expect to be able to do some decent offroading? I remember alec said his supercharger gets him through most of the stuff.

Thanks in advance,

Matt

I never knew there was something beter then an X. J/K!

If you have taken care of your X you can get many more miles out of her! Although a swap to a 4x4 is not a bad idea, as long as it says Ford on the back!

If you are looking to off-road i would not waste your time with 2wd. I would just trade in your X or sell it and get whatever best fits your purpose. Get what is best for your budget and all. Although not many on here seem to like Jeeps, you can beat their aftermarket following. I personally like them but some of the owners tend to think that they are high and mighty. Of course, you could just get an X and slap on a SAS and some 37s and have one bad ass machine.

Ive actually looked into converting my x to 4x4 with a d44 and 37s but all the places around here seem to be way too expensive. I was thinking something along the lines of 5-6k for the swap+tires but the places around houston want 10-13k which just isnt feasable. If i could do the swap for a decent price, i would do it in a heartbeat and keep the x forever.
