okay, so i am looking into buying a 2002 ford explorer. I have a few questions on the matter such as..
-what to look for?
----under the hood
----hardware
----electrical issues
----transmission issues???
-Problems with integrity/hardware
-drive train issues?
-anything else thats possibly an issue?

my '02 runs great. i recently had the fuel injection cleaned, power steerring fluid flushed and filled it with mobil one synthetic 7,500 oil. i hope to bump it up from the 16-18 mpg to 18-20 mpg in city. the one issue i had when i first got it was the rear antique panel on the hatch door. it was coming off and had a crack. i installed a new one but was a pain in the butt. i had to have it paint and installed, ran 50 for the panel, another 50 to paint and 50 to install. the design in that was stupid. the abs sensor needed replacing, but that seems to be the norm. the airbag lite came on, and need a new belt tensioner sensor under the seat. a side from all that, the tranny is good and the body and inside were in mint condition. i paid 12,000 and it had 55,000 miles if i remember right. i still ove mine and havent had any major problems. depends on how well it (or any) car/truck is kept by its previous owner.

For datallguy1313:
I just got a 2002, 35k miles, $14500; runs very good, fuel economy is the same as stated on the sticker. It has been mentioned here before that the shifter seems to 'stop' before getting all the way into park and mine has the same situation. Check the battery and alternator at a Sears.

For daprez1963:
My ABS light just went on. Did you change the sensor in back (the one above the diff)?

Ronnie
