I high thinking of taking out my v6 engine and replacing it with a v8, I understand the transmission has to be replaced as well...what else has to be replaced?
all of the engine wiring, the PCM, the trans wiring, possibly the GEM and PATS module, T-Case, drive shafts, etc.... Best bet is to find a wrecked v-8, then you will have everything you need
past engine / trans / tcase, harnesses, pcm, ic/sjb / ac lines / ac compressor / power steering / alt very few things are the same among the ex from a 4.0 to a 4.6l
also your vin is coded for a 4.0l insurance or even state inspections it might not pass. forget about getting pulled over and then having to do a salvage title on the vehicle cause it does not match the vin.
and dont get me started on vct's on the 4.6l or the plugs, exhaust and other issues it has.
Don't do it. There are thousands of people like you that wanted to do it, started and never finished. The amount of little things that will come up during the swap will kill you enthusiasm and your bank account. Every little bracket will be needed to hold this line or that line, and the only place is Ford to get them. Unless you buy a rear ended v8 and put next to yours and start swapping, but still not worth it. Just get a v8, and sell v6.
