local autoparts stores

i looked up one for an 1994 OHV @ Kragen's Autoparts, rebuilt with a warranty, and it was like $1200

seems like your doing the same thing i'm doing with my MJ. if your going to rebuild, i would recomend a used block, i've heard there harder then a new block because of the repeated heating/cooling cycle that occurs. You could port & polish your heads, wich is where the power is, for your new engine, well worht the $$ in my opinion. anywho, good luck with your Ex.

Golli, thanks for the ideas and luck!

One thing i thought of for this "buy rebuilt route"... if i buy a rebuilt engine- i dont know what im getting. I guess wouldnt it make sence and probably be cheaper to just have my current one rebuilt?? This way i know it wasnt a broken down engine thats been fixed out of a junker.... just kind of like a really really in depth tune up.

hmm?

You don't know anybody with the skills to rebuild a motor? A rebuild kit is fairly inexpensive, and you could pick and choose your internals. Plus, it's a great learning experience.
