Hey I got a 2002 ex limited 4.6v8, and I'm planning on getting a new travel trailer, and would like to know from someone who has one and tows with there EX so they can give me an idea of what a good size trailer would be that's nit going to be to big and heavy and hard on the EX to tow, so if anyone has any input please give it to me everything I can get in this would be good for when I buy my trailer in the next week so thanks.

The size is relative, its more about construction, weight and frontal area. A lower profile, light weight construction trailer will pull much easier than a taller conventional construction trailer. Its all about the weight. Length can affect handling in a side wind though........ There are so many options out there, and depending on who with and what you are camping for, the right floor plan will make a big difference.

first you need to decide what kind off amenities you want in the camper, how many beds... stuff like that, then...
lots of highway? or shorter trips?
do you wanna be able to pull at 70 on the highway or not?
do you wanna spend a ton extra to get a super lite or not?
so on...

Just got an 03 limited. I am also thinking about buying a trailer. Did you buy one yet and if so can you tell me what size, weight etc... How does it tow? Thanks.

I have a 19 foot tt that weighs about 5000 lbs when all loaded up. My v8 Mountaineer tows it great on the highway at 65 to 70 mph with no problem. You do know its back there for sure, though. Funny thing I just discovered is that it pulls better at 65 to 70 than 55 to 60. Could be the sweet spot right in the meat of the torque curve at the higher rpms? Not sure, but I would try to stay under 6000 lbs if it was me. Keep in mind you will inevitably have people and more stuff in the car to contend with when going on trips.

Do you have the big 2" receiver (part of the factory Class III/IV tow package), or the 1¼" Class 2 receiver?
