1993 Ford Explorer XLT
Whats it worth? They told me at the radiator shop that its either a cracked head, some how the exhaust is getting into the coolant and forcing a leak. I just want to get rid of it.

Heres the specs:

1993 Ford Explorer has 88,000 original miles. Has some fading on hood and top, interior in excellent condition. Bought it and it has a coolant leak. Cannot afford to fix so I am selling. Has a 4" suspension lift with Rancho shocks, and a 3" body lift. Has really nice Aluminum Weld chrome wheels with 35" BFG Mud Terrain Km2's that have 95% or better. Have no idea what to ask for it, will take offers. Has a clean title and can be driven away. Transmission shifts like a dream.

Your be really sad but its not worth over $500ish..tires and lift mean nothing, your better off parting it out.you can buy good running 93s for under a $1,000, I paid $700 for my ranger (1994-with 115,000)

Why do tires and lift mean nothing?

Why do tires and lift mean nothing?

Your never get your money back for stuff you add to a vehicle. Why I said you would be better off parting it out.even with the tires and lift on its probably a $500 truck max...sell the tires and lift your get more than $500 and scrap the truck..even if it was running right and had tires/lift its still about a $1, 000 truck

Guess I asked the wrong person for a value because you are so wrong. Anybody have any ideas on value that isn't this guy? Considering he just called it a 1,000 dollar truck running perfect, it's funny considering I already got that offer with it leaking coolant.

Should have taken it then...bad motor...stock a4ld...stock gears on 35s..bet it shifts fine for now..you have a dime a dozen explorer with a bad motor and sure to be bad trans.only thing worth anything on your truck is the tires.check craigslist, I see many truck newer with around same mileage and under $2k.first gens go under a $1, 000 to $1, 500 max!!
Good luck on your sell and sure others will post about or around the same thing.:salute:

Great dude  now gtfo my post. I know what your opinion is on the price of this is. Considering the tires on my explorer are worth half of the price of any of those explorers.

Don't get butt hurt man...:nono:

Pretty sure if your car took a **** then you'd be pissed too. Thought this forum was full of people who treated people half way decent. Guess i was wrong.

How did I treat you wrong??told you what ""I"" think its worth and tried to explain that you don't buy a vehicle or base the price of it off added aftermarket parts.it just don't work that way.then tried to explain that the only thing really worth something is your tires and lift and you would be best to try and sell them separately. ...

Like I said its sad but a 93 with a bad motor and a4ld trans that has had 35" tires run on it without the proper gear upgrade. That trans is crap to begin with, add bigger tires and wrong gears.its a time bomb..its just not worth much man, that year and model is just not very valuable. .if it was a eddie and 5 speed would be different or if you had gears and lockers...you can get a used motor or heads for a couple hundred and swap it out if you think the truck is that valuable. .

I feel your pain and hope your get a lot more but ""I"" just don't think its worth much.let me ask you, what do you think its worth before I ""low"" balled you??

It's worth about $500-700. Sucks, but it's true. Sell the wheels and tires for that and scrap the truck for what you can get.

For $700 I'd expect to get a running engine and slipping transmission. To be honest, it's really only worth about scrap value. Just too much wrong and what is right can be had pretty cheap...cheaper than a new engine and transmission.

fwiw, i have a 6" lift and 33" on a nice 92, and its worth 1500 or so...

i had about $10,000 worth of home automation equipment in a house i recently sold - no one was going to pay for that in a small house so i ripped it out before putting it on the market

i am considering putting in a new hu in my 95 explorer - but i'd be crazy to think i could add $800 to the sales price if i sold it - i'd put the stock hu back in it

add stuff to your ex if you would enjoy it - it might make it sell before a stock ex, but you won't recover the money

I'd be less likely to buy an already lifted truck than an entirely stock one.

I'd be less likely to buy an already lifted truck than an entirely stock one.

Me to, especially if it doesn't have proper gears.who knows what damage that has caused plus the damage of someone wheeling it.or atleast in the case of a 20 year old vehicle.

The short answer to this question has already been provided. It's not the desired response but it's honest. We may actually be over estimating it's value because we actually like Explorers. I can find operable vehicles for under $1,000 all day long. You just have to be honest with yourself. The likely buyer of a '93 vehicle is looking for something cheap and reliable.

Someone looking to build an off road vehicle, the intended buyer for the OP I assume, either wants a drivetrain gem that they can start modifying the body and suspension immediately or they're looking for a nice frame to start a fresh build on. Nobody goes looking for $1,500 worth of lift parts/tires that happen to be attached to a useless truck. Sorry, but that's just the truth of it.

So anything over 1,000 is what you guys would take? I think im going to shoot for $1,500

around here a car with a blown headgasket/head work is worth 500 so my advise it take tires and rims off put rollerson and sell them seperatly or save them it would be to much work to take your lift and stuff off so would leave it on ad sell it like that ask for 750 obo then get the person to 500
btw this is a great helpful forum that's why we advised you to take your rim off they maybe worth 500 but your truck is only worth 500 sou get to eat 500 for your tires to leave them o so the more rude you are the more **** your going to get.

lol...13'er....

Though I do agree the cost of a 1st gen depends on where you live. You can't buy them $1K & under anywhere where I live unless you want a total POS that will require major work.
Ask for $1200 take $1K.
