Just finished a trip of about 600 miles with a significant load. At 78 mph in somewhat hilly conditions I averaged 18.1 mpg with some city driving. I only have a K&N panel filter, SCT Flasher on performence 87 (HypIllAuto), Mobil-1 synthetic in the crank, and Redline Synthetic in front and rear diffs.

I know I would do much better at 65 mph. I know you 6'ers can spank me on MPG... Dont even post Al! I dont want to hear it! JK :p

We hear a lot of talk of Highway MPG but speed remains a significant factor that can skew the whole comparison. 55 MPH is another world compared to 75 MPH.

So... whatcha folks run at a given MPH?

18mpg@70mph Seattle to Missoula

20mpg@60mph

V6-OHV mods are in my sig

I get 19-20 at 70-75 mph sustained speed.

That's with a '98 ohv with a k&n drop-in filter, otherwise stock.

At 78, which is where I set the cruise in MI, about 18 + or -. Usually -.

i can get high teens when doing 75 or 80 but if i slow down to 60 or 65 I get 14ish. I figure it must have something to do with my gear ratio being way to high with the 33s on and 3.73 gears

I ususally get between 19 and 21 with a V8. 2003 XLT, with a single flowmaster 40 and a K&N drop in filter.

21 mpg @ 75 mph (w/ cruise control on gently rolling terrain).

my 95 is all highway the last few weeks and still around 13
my wife drives the 2002 to work 60 miles each way and she gets about 16
both of them totally suck...

last trip I took I averaged 18.9 mpg with the cruise set just under 80.

On flatland going about ~47mph I can average 27mpg. For a whole 27 miles I did that! Talk about boring though

are you all figuring the numbers with the different size tires on your Ex's ?

Scan gauge reported 17-18 at 75. That is with 31s. The computer is not recalibrated for the 31s, so I usually add 1mpg.

I get about 15mpg at 75-80, and about 10 at 100-105, in my stock 91ohv

Wha?? How do you know you're doing 100 if the speedo tops out at 85?

I use GPS and have logged mileage since I bought it with 69k on it.

I have a 94 XL 2wd 5 speed... on the highway I can get like 16, and around town here i get 11-12... it sucks, but I have aleadfoot. I'm going to attempt driving normal, but oh well whatever. It wasn't built for economy anyway. I do recall one time when my dad was in posession of it we drove it from here , IL, 6 hours to wisconsin with a heavy trailer and got 19... go figure... it's one of those vehicles that does decent when you can cruise constant but otherwise blows

The tach, I had a friend run about 105 in front of me a while back, so i can guess pretty close by the tach, it's not perfect, but it works. Besides, the tach is all I ever use, my spedometer doesn't work most of the time.

15 MPG, cruis'n at 80ish on hills going to a ski resort in NC.

these things shouldn't be legal to drive on normal streets, let alone fast, they are too big :) hehe
