OK, I am a new guy to this forum. I have a 2000 X XLS. RWD.
I have "cupping" on both front tires.
The tires are Michelin, LTX AT.
Today, I removed the center cap, removed the dust cover, and pushed/pulled on the top and bottom of the wheel. I have "play" back and forth. I removed the cotter pin and retaining cap that goes over the nut on the spindle. I again pushed/pulled on the wheel top and bottom. With a friends help, we saw movement around the center of the hub while I was moving the wheel. I grabbed the nut and it turned about a quarter of the way.
Two questions:
First: Are the wheel bearings bad?
Second: How tight should the nut be?
Please Help.
Just want to fix my X.........
It is a daily driver, about 22 miles per day, 5 days a week, and 116,500 miles. Also, maintenance kept up pretty good.
Thanks for any advice and help.
