I reccomend the Taylor Spiro plug wires for the 4.0L.
Last time I checked the Ford Motor Sport one's were still cut to fit, as are most wire sets for the 4.0L the Taylors are some of the best wires out there and they are cheap and custom fit for the 4.0.
Can't anyone get any decent mileage out of their wires? Mine have 94K on them and so far everything is running great. I went ahead and replaced my plugs at 50K (just because) and will do it again at 100K. This time around I'll go ahead and replace my wires, but as of now there isn't any need to.
Ford recommends replacing the wires every 60k. Maybe that's why the wires are a bit cheaper, as they last a little shorter. But they always work well for me.
Maybe Ford used cheaper wires in '96? My '97 Maintenance guide doesn't list an interval for wires. All it lists is the plugs ever 60K under "Severe Duty".
