I got 82K on my X now and thinking about replacing all the stock rubber hoses under the hood to keep it reliable.

Have any of you experienced hose failure? At how many miles? I just dont want to replace it when it gives out but dont want to waste money either. Am I on borrowed time with 82K and a seven year old truck?

I have experienced hose failure, but it was always with 10-15+year old hoses and god-knows-how-many-miles. Just inspect your hoses every so often; look for obvious cracks and scraping...but also feel them for bulges and weak spots. Pay close attention to places that might rub on other components, too.

If it concerns you that much, it's cheap and easy to replace the upper and lower rad hoses. An even cheaper method is to buy a $2 roll of duct tape and keep it in your truck. Duct tape CAN save your *** if you are out somewhere remote and your hose starts giving out.
