Hmmmm

huh...you say you got lots to work with?? Well for the low low price of $49.99 I will personally send you a list of things that may be benificial towards your performance needs...hehe heh.."worth a shot, right everyone?"

I really like my borla Headers. I also have a free flow cat and flowmater 40 muffler. It is much louder over stock. It sounds like a V-8 I had some one ask me if I did a v-8 Swap the other day.

kris- did you run duals? or did you go w/ the stock collector? and then back w/ stock diamater pipes or 2.5? where did you get your headers and how much for the free flow. thanks a lot-russel

fox- try http://www.carparts.com

Im not sure..but were the bolas the ones that were discontinued? Anyways, the only ones I was able to find for my 94 were BBK headers. I like em all right. All though I was very disapointed on the HP-cost ratio. I probably would have spent my money elsewhere if I would have known.

I got every thing through Summit racing. The Borla header come with a new Y-pipe. It fits in the stock locations.

I cant remember prices thought.

i was searching the web and found a good website for trucks and SUV's. www.truckperformance.com it has the borla headers on sale for $305 and the bbk's are like $400 something depending on the coating. they also have jba's which are dyno'd at twice what the bbk's and borla can do. they are $460. high flow cats are $63-69. all the headers have lifetime/million mile warrenties. got me excited! -russel

Where did you see the dyno results for the JBA's? I thought all the shorty headers were the same for our trucks...

they have them on the website. they say they produce as much hp and ft/lb as regular length headers. what do you guys think?

I dunno... I doubt it. Ive seen my headers go in. There is ZERO room in there. The shortys barely fit.. and it seems like they have a pretty decent design anyways. Although I only gained 4hp from my BBK's.

you know they always fib a little bit, but the bend of the pipes, the collecter, and the width all contribute. i don't think it really matters. but for 300 bucks for a name like borla and the recomendations i've heard, that might be the way to go. that's almost $200 less than the jba's. you say only 4 hp? that sucks. how about gas mileage? just wondering. 4 hp does not impress me at all!!!!! -russel

Nick,

Just for clarification: The headers increased your peak hp by 4, correct? What did they do to the rest of the curve? My headers actually hurt my low end power, but I think they gave me more than 4 hp at speed. Maybe your peak only increased a little, but I'm sure your curves are much flatter now. That's what you want: gain across the board, not at peak. For instance, I'm sure my blower didn't increase my peak hp by 50%, but it might have increased hp at other points on the curve 50%.

Just wanted to throw a wrench into the conversation...

4 hp was at peak... and across the board it pretty much holds true. at around 24mph I might be pushing 8-9hp though... but I that could be anything. Still 4 is lame. I dont have my torque readout anymore.. just my HP. I just like to remind people of my dyno results now and then because I did several before and after many mods. And am only up to 141hp with all my mods listed. so... All in all..i think the headers were the worst in cost to hp ratio so far.

Actually, if you think about it: It cost a sheistload of $$$, but the blower actually ends up with a good cost/hp ratio.

Blower (opt): 60-80hp/$3500 ~ $45-$60/hp
Airfilter: 5hp/$100 ~ $20/hp
Catback: 5-10hp/$200 ~ $20-$40/hp
TB: 5hp/$200 ~ $40/hp
chip (gone now): 15hp/$200 ~ $15/hp
headers (opt): 10-15hp/$1100 (too much) ~ $75-$110/hp

The blower's ratio is actually pretty good, considering that amount of gain. By far, the chip and airfilter are the best mods/$$. However, the headers and TB are necessary for the blower, so you could theo. factor the header cost and gain into the blower's. Hmmm, I'm thinking too much now; my brain hurts!
