Hi, Can someone please tell me where I can buy the shackles and add-a-leaf that I will need to complete the tortion twists project for about a 1.75" lift. I have a 2000 Explorer XLS 2wd. If you could either give me an internet address or a phone number it would REALLY help me out as for I am kinda clueless as to exactly what I need to buy. Also if you know the exact name that would definately help too!!
ANY COMMENTS WILL HELP!!
Thanks,
Grant

If you're just looking for the lift, and not extra carrying capacity, you don't need both the shackles and the add-a-leaf. One or the other will do. Personally, I prefer the shackles because it doesn't change the ride characteristics. Shackles can be bought from www.desertrat.com part # war-153. You will have to call them (phone # on website) because they don't list them on line. If you also want the add a leafs, www.summitracing.com has them, but I don't know the proper part #

BTW, if you do a search on this site, you will find all the info you need.

Thanks but 1 more question

Hi, thanks for that reply. I am just going to buy the shackles. But that web site you gave me doesn't work. The www.desertrat.com gave me an error. Any other places you think I can get it at or if you can get to their site can you give me the number please??
thanks, grant

I just clicked on the link you put up, and it got me there. Try it again.

Hi,
Yea I just tried it again and it worked. I also just called them and ordered the war shackles...Total was $58 to ship to okla which Im guessing is a fair deal. Thanks and If I have any questions when I get them next week Ill probley post them. Also should I not do the torsion twists untill I get the shackles? Also are the tortion twists bolts facing up and down or sideways?
Thanks,
Grant

still trouble finding torsion twists

Just crawled under my explorer and am still unable to locate the torsion bolts. Are they both right next to each other? If not how far away are they? The "explorer tips" page says that they are located "near the rear of the truck" but others say they are in the middle of the driver and passenger side doors. Are the bolts blue? Found some blue ones that I thought could be them. They are right next to each other. Please help!!
Thanks, grant

The torsion bolts are about even with the mirrors on the truck. If you crawl under the truck and look, there are two round bars that come back from the front suspension, one on each side. They end inside of a box attached to the frame. There is a cutout in each box facing the ground. Inside of that is the torsion adjustment bolt. The head faces the ground. I suggest you get yourself a Haynes repair manual. They have good pix of what you need to look for.

Think I got em!!

Man your everywhere! See you in like every thread helpin people out..thanks.....Okay well Im pretty much positive I have found them after my 5th time crawlin under my explorer. If the cutout you are talkin about is a fairly large oval/rectangle shape then I have finally found them!! Please respond once more!
Thanks,
Grant
