In parts books for blackouts and things like that, it says check local laws before ordering. Where can I check these laws?

Do a search. I believe in one of the discussions somebody posted a link or links for checking local laws. If you don't find anything let us know so someone can still help.

Haha.. hey officer... yeah you! over here! What do you think about these blackouts... legal or not??? Oh really? You say you want me to sign here? Oh I see... Im not admiting guilt by signing....

hehe

Actually if you ask, most (not all) officers are more than willing to help answer any questions about vehicle modifications. If not, they may be able to point you in the right direction.
Another source would be your local libary. I know the libary here has a vehicle code manual in the reference section. If you can understand what it says (its written in legal format) it should have the answer.

I know for Texas you can go to http://www.texas.gov for any Texas law, including traffic laws. That's how I found out what lights to get ;)

Good luck!

I think alot of states have the laws online. I know Kansas does. Sometimes it is a pain to find the states website because they dont use what I would call "common sense" urls (ones that make sense). Kansas is one of them. Its site is http://www.ink.org (go figure). But then there are states like Washington where it is http://www.wa.gov (that one makes sense!)

You can always go to a search engine and type in "Montana state government" (www.state.mt.us) and most of the time the first hit is what your looking for. I use http://www.google.com for the search...
