I replaced mine on my old '93 EB one with a JL 6" W0. I don't remember if you need any special harnesses, but I know that has been discussed before in other threads.

look at radio shack. I was able to get a pioneer 8" with dual voice coils. will sound good as the original or maybe a bit better. it was 25.00
Actually , just about any 8" will do you as well, it just won't have the center magnet mounting bolt. seal that hole with some silicone or the like and you are good to go.

i thought the factory woofer was an 6.5" or something

well mine was 8" until I cut box to fit my polk 10"
The 8" sub i ordered from radio shack fit
Mine is a 98 mounty, if there is a difference then my bad for butting in

Good Idea

I just blew the stock JBL in my '98 Mountianeer. I hadn't thought of looking at Radio Shack. I'll check them out. The stock sub in the '98 is 8". I am more of a mechanical person than electrical. Do I need to worry about impedence to avoid blowing my amp?
