can somebody point me to some info bout a shift kit for my 2000 a4ld? there are currently no problems with the tranny, its the origional with over 133k on it. i dont drive it hard, but i do tow some and i plan to install a cooler when i get round to it (before spring comes). i recently had a tranny flush and i just want to make sure it lasts and im tryin to baby it. also, can a moderate do-it-yourselfer like me install one? thanks!

You don't have an A4LD, you have a 5r55e. For shift kits check out transmissionpartsusa.com or bulkpart.com.

oh wow. damn i feel stupid. lol. no wonder why i was getting conflicting info. thank you though :salute:

anyways, will i be able to install a shift kit myself?

no thats fine thanks. i just cant belive i thought i has an a4ld for so long

well, when comming home tonight my tranny acted up. the O/D light started flashing, it wouldnt shift into overdrive on the highway, and the fluid was up to 190*F. it hasnt been that high since towing this summer. and it shifted very hard. i got home and restarted the truck, drove it and everything was normal, with no flashing light. im going to take it by autozone tomorrow to check for codes.

any help please?
transmissions are prob my least knowledgeable subject

Check the company TransGo.

I don't believe it! Transgo doesn't offer one for the E model!

thats not a shift kit that is a correction kit if im not mistaken

i apprecaite you guys helping with the shift kit, but anybody have advice about my problem? im scared to drive it today and school starts back tuesday

how does ur fluid look is it at the right levels? and is it nasty looking or does it have a nice red color to it?

fluid is nice and red almost new and is filled to the correct level. i had it flushed at the dealer last fall (no more than 3K ago) ill never do that again tho, ill do it myself and save $100 or so.

after searching, i think i might start with replacing the solenoids? am i going in the right direction?

im tryin to learn about these trannys as fast as i can so bear with me. without knowing any codes, what would you start with? i thought solenoids could be the culprits through searching, but i may be wrong

edit: you can delete my other thread or merge these two if im clogging this forum with two almost identical threads
