After spending half a day installing and wiring up a overhead console in my '98 Explorer, I am still bewildered as to the location of the two wires for the temp. sensor (blue/white & blue yellow).
My Explorer came equipped with the sensor, and I can trace the wires to a large connector on the firewall. But I cannot locate the wires inside the vehicle. I'm assumming the A/C system uses this sensor to tell it when to run the A/C during cooler weather defrost modes.
I temporarily spliced into the wiring harness in the engine compartment and ran wires along the outside of the vehicle and inside to test the unit and it read the correct temp. just fine.
I'm a little hesitatant to drill a hole in the firewall to pass these two wires if I can splice into them inside the vehicle.
Any help would be appreciated.
BTW, other than feeling like a fool driving my Explorer in circles to calibrate the compass, everthing works just fine.
Thanks.
