im going to buy a body lift for my explorer today and was wondering where every one bought theirs and how they liked it. There are 2 that i am considering
4wheelparts.com which is 97 dollars
TruckPerformance.com which is 107 dollars

its the 3 in body lift for first generation 2wd

i got mine at a local parts store, its the performance accessories one. it made my explorer look more offroad, and it rode a little bit smoother. the only thing that is a pain is the bumpers. on the rear one, u will have a cut out a piece of your bumper, or make custom brackets, i was finishing mine at about 11 at night and couldnt see very well so i just welded my rear bumper on and called it good.

i just called 4 wheel parts and was told that there was not a rear bumper brack included in the kit is this right and what could i do to make one or go to a place to make one

Well you can buy it anywhere that sells it, but if you are like me you wouldnt mind paying an extra $10 or so to support your local 4x4 shop........I dont mind paying a little extra (key word little) in order to support my local 4x4 shops/owners/community.

but what about the rear bumper bracket?

You can buy the BL from summit. I just went to their site and it says it's 97.95 and includes front and rear bumper brackets.

Do what i did

You can do i did, and use a 4x4!!

i took the brackets that came with the body kit, and cut a 4x4 to fit the bracketry and painted to the color of my car! ROCK ON!

What?

4x4 as in a peice of 4x4; wood.

hahahaha oh okay I see, that was the missing piece of info. :)
I dont think wood will hold up all that great though in a 5 mph bumper test :)

hahaha yeah man i garentee that wood anit holdin up ****, except my license plate... which was on zip ties until i finally got the bright idea to use wood. haha man those bumpers are THICK man

Ima tell ya now dude. Body lifts are not easy but not hard eaither. I did a full size bronco and a 2 door explorer. they would be pretty minimial if those front body mounts weren't so damn weird!! ford got pretty creative on these plates they use to hold the front end of the body down; and they are tough as nails to get off. after that, dropping the radiator is probably the hardest part. from there a case of beer, a friend, and a weekend and you should be good to go.

i appreciate it my father has a barn and is going to help me a little so i think i ll be ok

could some one link me to the bl on summit racing because i cant seem to find anything

PRA-PA-793, you can just put this in on the summit site and it will come up with the BL.

i finally saw the kit but it does not state if it is for 1st generations

Yes it does. If you go to fitment, it says 91-94 4WD or 2WD. Plus nobody makes BLs for other year Explorers

thanks bmxking5 i think ill order from summit thanks for the help every one
