never mind, im an idiot, i forgot to put a forward slash in my experation date! my bad

did you order a capacitor for your new system yet?

afraid not, im gonna have to wait till next pay check, i can afford it now but i like to always have a good amount of money left in case of an emergency or somethin, i have ordered the box thouhg, and on thursday im picking everything up for about 500 dollars im gonna be gettin that audiobahn grill thuogh, it looks so sweet.

that grill is really cool. did you get the chrome one or the brushed aluminum? where did you order the grill from?

im gettin the brushed aluminium one cause it would prolly look better after being abused(and trust me, its gonna get abused) im actually gettin the grill from teh same place im gettin the amp and sub, a local place here in houston. after i got all the prices for the stuff from the guys at the store i told them i would only get it if they would give me a audiobahn poster(with that hot chick on it:)) unfortunatley once i buy all teh stuff it will prolly be another week before i get it installed, cause i need a full day to run the bigger power wires and new fuse blocks and everthing.

the anticipation is really gettin to me though, i was at the store the other day and sat holding an ultra excursion twelve with a big grin on my face(until my arms got tired cause those things are heavy!)

hell yeah they're heavy. the AW1205X weighs in at just under 39 lbs.

i'd like to get one of the Audiobahn posters too.
i'm thinking about switching my system back to an all Audiobahn system again. my wife really loved the audiobahn subwoofer. i got compliments from people everywhere i went.

i'll probably build up slowly, starting with some new 5 1/4 Audiobahn components (they're heavier than a lot of subwoofers) cause they sound amazing. perfect sound quality, even with 200 watts rms pumping through them with the volume cranked way up.

I personallyy think, if anyone says something is pure gold, they are lying. Because gold cant be pure. It has to be mixed with toher minerals to be solid. see hwat i mean?

i took a gander over at the audiobahn full range and component setups and all i can say is wow! looks like a lot higher quality then my pioneers, even the non component setups come with external crossovers. just 2 days left and ill have my stuff. (assuming the box comes in by then) it should seem louder cause i havent had any bass in my car for over a week now.

taco
how do u like your kenwood subs?

they did a good job for the price, but they dont hit very hard, the nice thing about them is they put out a pretty good amount of sound with very little power. if your lookin at gettin em then make sure you plan on havin a big box, because these things love airspace. they do sound clean thouhg and look really cool, id get alot of compliments when people would see 4 of em in row

i forgot to tell you that the baskets on some Audiobahn subs (like the 1205x) are much larger than most 12" subs. so you might have to make the opening on the sub box a little larger. if you have one of those little rotary tools, it will only take a few minutes. you might not have to though. i never used an audiobahn in that enclosure, but most prefabs are too small for them. but my friend got the dual 12 vented box and two orion HCCAs fit perfectly.

thanx for the info, leenjen. im hopin i wont have to mod anything but im not gonna let it stop me if i have to. i have a feeling that my box wont make it in by tommorrow, but a have a box that is almost the same except the vent is facing the rear of the box(home theater box) ill just use that until my new box comes in. a little more than 12 hours and ill be buying all my stuff im so excited :D :D :D

the rear??
hopefully it wont over-extend the spiders.

when did you order your box? UPS should only take about 3 days.

i placed the order sunday night(prolly early monday morning) they said they dont actually charge it to my card till it has been shipped. and my bank statement said it was charged on tuesday i believe so it might be here tommorrow(if it does it will be after 5pm) i really feel that it is going to arrive on friday though or possibly monday. when u said it could over extend the spiders what did you mean? does the direction the port faces have that much to do with excursion and stuff like taht?

to put it simply: when you port the box, the airspace expands and contracts with the sub. with a port on the front or side only the tuned frequency will escape. with the port on the rear, it trys to eliminate the rear baffle and the cone will overextend inward due to this.
this might not make a lot of sense the way it typed it, but i'm typing fast cause i have to leave in a few minutes.

i finally got it all today (except the box) its sounds awesome:D. i went ahead and put it in that ported box i mentioned earlier. it didnt sound like it was bottoming out but it was definatley getting hot, i could feel the warmth on the front of the sub. i think im just gonna keep it down and not play it too hard until i get the new box. man does this thing hit! it hits harder than all 4 of my kenwoods. i want to compare it to my freinds 2 15" hx2 but i dont have a sound meter that can handle that kind of volume but either way ii think it hits about the same as or maybe a little harder than his hx2's. im really happy with it, i havent capped it cuz i dont have the money right now, but i did run 4 gauge power and ground wires and the amp does seem like its starved for power.

i do want to thank you leenjen for your help with this and just like to say i wouldnt have ever looked into audiobahn products if you hadnt recommended them to me.

btw-you (or anyone) woulndt know where to get those high level db meters? im lookin for one that doesnt cos tan arm and a leg either

i'm glad you like it.
i hope your new box comes soon. just take it easy with the home box. if anything happens there is a warranty on the sub anyway. i think it's a year.

i know of a din size db meter, but it only goes up to 150db, and it doesnt seem worth the $$. just go to a few competitions and get it measured. different competitions have different wattage classes. with the A275HCX amp, you can compete in the 150 watt class since they go by the amp's rated output @4ohms. then you can win a few trophies.

i'm not sure of which has more output: 2- 15" HX2s or 1- 12" 1205X, but i do prefer the sound of the audiobahn. all music sounds great with the audiobahn.

i know you said you dont have the money for a cap now. but when you do get one, i recommend getting an audiobahn cap. it will really make a difference with the deep bass.

i wish i could hear it... i miss my all audiobahn system :(

but i'll probably get another one soon.

maybe my wife will let me install the AWT34 (34" titanium subwoofer) in the explorer....
