well im trying to decide on which amp/s to get for my subs...

either a (2) JBL PBX2200.1, (1) US AMPS DE-3000, or (2) BX1500D's

im going for quality and hit.

i know the "cheapest" way to go would be the BX1500D...

but i also want something that i could say is worth more (and really is), but didnt pay as much for.

and for that i would lean toward the PBX2200.1 due to ebays $900 mark down off msrp

and if i want real quality stuff... well thats sorta where US Amps comes in.

but i need an opinion on which is the better way to go

id take the bx1500 over the pbx2200 from personal experience. JBL makes very nice amps on a budget but some hifonics stuff just cant be beat for the money. The US amps will be superior to them in every way but you really have to ask yourself if a little edge is worth all that extra money.

I had 4 us amps vlx400s three years ago and they were great amps...had to sell them because they were physically too large to fit in my setup. So i switched to viper 2500ds

I have a 1500.1 in my trunk powering a stereo integrity 15"

I reccomend these amps to all my friends

One has a 1500.1 in a explorer powering 1 15" x..
1996 mustang with a 1500.1 pushing 2 L7 12"
SRT-4 with a 1000.1 pushing 2 kicker cvr 12"

Never seen/heard anything bad about them except the very bring blue logo that lights up at night. Just dont put it in front of a window because it screams steal me steal me

i might just go with us amps, but maybe a different model that i could find pushing atleast 3000rms

maybe ill try the hifonics out first to see how i like it, then get a us amps amp and compare... sorry thing is once i pick one i dont think ill be able to change my mind since im considering a custom enclosure (acrylic, fiberglass and probably mdf).

just make sure you have your electrical system upgraded enough to supply your amps current needs

Hifonics is good as is US Amps. JBL isn't very good. The MSRP is extremely high to make it seem like you're getting a good deal.

huskyfan what are you basing your opinions on? have you played around with hifonics, us amps, and jbl amps??

the JBLs have nothing abnormally special about them but they do the job quite well on a budget. The hifonics i found are better quality amps, fairly high end. Cost a bit more but still worth it. Most us amps can get fairly pricey but they're very high quality and are a good investment for someone serious about their sound

Yes, I have used models from each of those brands and was not impressed with the JBL.

weird....ahh well. come to think of it ive only used the bp1200.1 and the matching 80.4 from the older JBL line.

I've heard JBL overrates some of its amps too. When you buy high-quality amps like those by US and Hifonics you know you're getting AT LEAST the advertised wattage, and in many cases more.

yea ive heard a lot of cases the JBLs are a slight bit overrated but not nearly as much as many other brands. The JBL 1200.1 was tested at something like 1380 watts into a 2 ohm load.

alright...

well the S/N ratio... is it the higher the better, or the lower the better?

i might just go US amps due to the fact that ive always wanted one from the begining... probably the USA3000 instead of the DE3000.

electrical wise... imma be screwed due to the fact that my alt is still stock.

this is the stuff i like to hear, personal experience with the companys

I dunno, my friend got a hifonics bx1500, helped him install it in his cavvy to an immortal 12" and it couldn't push the sub worth a ****? Sure the amp looked nice and wasn't too big but heck my old hk1997 beat up subs more than that thing did. He moved up to a MA 602sx and is happy now. my take on the hifonics, fine for the $$$ but dont expect anything more than what you're spending.

I'm in the same situation. I'm deciding between a hifonics and us amp. I've only researched a little about the hifonics amps and I heard they don't make there ratings (but only a little off) for a couple people, but for the price they can't be beat.

As for US amps, they are completely solid amps.

But it wont really matter which one you go with if you don't have the electrical to back it up

i wont get the electrical to back it up unless i get something that makes me have to... im not sure as to get the D class or AB class... only difference is the s/n ratio a whole 10 db difference

for subs you dont need a super good s/n ratio...us amps are usually class a/b which means huge current draw. With this kind of power you'll definitely need an upgraded alt whether you go class d or a/b

well i guess ill get the class ab, the current draw cant be as bad as my current amp which is supposed to be run at 18 volts. plus i like the fact that i could still run stereo for the subs (not like it makes a difference, but who knows it may in the future)

your current amp being rated at 18 volts wont make a difference in current draw unless you actually run 18 volts to it

lol crazy amp though... make me wonder what it would do with 18 volts...

They rate it at 18 for the people planning on using it in competitions, and try to tone down the 18V rating so people think the max power is at 14.4.
