I have done some searching on the site for superchargers but all I pull up is people saying to supercharge. I know there is the EE supercharger and the Ford Racing Supercharger, but I was wondering if there is a higher gain supercharger available for a 2001 5.0L? Possibly cheaper than the EE?
There are other better superchargers out there, but I reccomend that before you even look to push past the 9 lbs boost limit for most those "normal" chargers that you build the bottom end of your engine. Then you can get serious with either a modified Vortech S trim kit for a mustang or a KB 1.5L for a mustang, or a Powerdyne w/ the upgraded XB-1A racing head unit. Do a search and I am sure you could pull up alot of interesting writeups and threads from guys like Troll, Pur Pony, X-Box, myself, Lowdpypes and so on. I know all of us guys have put a wealth of knowledge into some of those old threads we posted a few years back. Just check all that out and you should find all the info you would ever need regarding building an explorer for power.
Yes. IF you wanted a better head unit than the BD-11 then at the time of puchase you would have to ask for the XB-1A head unit upgrade. I know when I bought mine it was a $585 or so upgrade. I bought mine through www.superchargersonline.com . I called them up to place my order to I could tell them exactly what I wanted.
