I am looking for something to clean my chrome wheels when I get them. I want something that will really make them shine (duh). But also don't want to have to clean them daily to look like that. I think cleaning them 2 or 3 times a month is the best I can do.

i forget the name, but i use this blue pasty stuff. i clean the wheels the best i can with just a regular car wash cleaner then apply the blue stuff and let it sit until it turns a blackish color. then just wipe it clean and they shine like new.

anyone know what this stuff is called or can recommend anything else?

it's called blue magic metal polish creme. it say's its the number 1 recommended wheel polish. it cleans all the road grime and stuff and then leaves a silicone sealer on the metal or chrome to protect it. it's good stuff. i got mine at advance auto so most any auto zone or pepboys should have it.

My metal polish of choice is Wenol. Since the wheels are new, I'd just get the blue tube (the red is more abrasive). Then give them a good coat of your favorite wax or polymer sealant and they'll look incredible. It'll make cleaning brake dust unbelievable easy.

I wouldnt use any special cleaners!

On my 20's i used some wheel cleaner (claimed to be safe for chrome) and it wasnt.. it actually cause pitting and some chrome flaking in the bolt holes of the wheels.. apparently some got in the bolt hold and wasnt rinsed out properly - sat there and ate away at the chrome.

My recommendation is - if u have nice chrome rims - dont let them get so gunked up that ya need a harsh cleaner polisher. I wash my EX about once a week.. or every 2 weeks. I use regular car soap on the wheels and it keeps them looking new. Every winter i take some pure CARNUBA wax (w. no added abrasives) and wax them up so that dirt and grime are unable to stick to the wheels. .. therefore when i wash the car it takes no effort to get the rims super clean.

and never! use a polish on chrome

does anyone recall the wheel stuff they used on Trucks! about a month back? I think it may have been the show with that huge Dodge Ram......

Blue Magic definately is the best. I use that stuff for my stock alloy wheels as well as for my billet grill. good stuff, I recommend it.

I always have problems with brake pad dust collecting on my aluminum wheels and it makes cleaning them difficult.

I recently started using something new ( to me ) - 303 Aerospace Cleaner

Just spray this stuff on ( I use it at full strength on the wheels ), let it sit a minute or two and then hose it off.

This is an amazing cleaner.
