I'm having the same problem.I know it's the hot weather because I live in AZ & you all know how hot it gets here.Mine is coming from the MAFS.I'm gonna buy some air intake cleaner cause it's safe to use on this.It will also clean it alot better than carb cleaner. If it stops I'll let you know.I don't want to replace it cause I'm going to get a aftermarket MAFS anyway.
Ok, i finally got a chance to take a picture.... I say the humming noise is produced because the MAF housing does not fully close and it's letting air come in.... I tried to outline where the problem is. Don't know if there's a replacement part with a gasket or something to eliminate or at least make less sound. please check your expolers and advise if you guys agree with me.
Guys, I'm tellin ya, It's the Idle Air Control solenoid, (or IAC). Mine was doing the that very same noise. I replaced the IAC and the noise has stopped, (and it's been close to 100 degrees here in virginia all week). If y'all think i'm nuts, DON'T, I took the advice of others on this site, and it cured my problem. Hope it does for you too.
i messed around with the IAC today, took it off sprayed it with carb cleaner inside and out, still whines, i've also noticed it doing it even while im driving.

Mine does the same thing mostley when it is cold outside though. Noise is actually coming from the mass air unit. it will stop when I unplug the cap that the wires are connected to the mass are unit are run through . Haven't found how to stop it yet completely
