Can't seem to find any info on this so any help is grateful. I have a 93 explorer 4x4 and I have this whine coming from the right front. Some one told me it was the hub bearing. My manual said it has a spindle bearing is this the same thing or they the wheel bearings. I have very little play in the wheel bearings and this whine is very loud to where I have to turn up the radio to not hear it. Thanks Victor

Wheel bearing, spindle bearing, hub bearing...all mean the same thing. You have two on your truck, an inner and an outer, and it doesn't have to be loose to be bad. If one of the balls has chipped, or the bearing cup is galled, it will whine.

Best bet is to disassemble the wheel, clean up the bearings and cups and inspect them for damage.

I was lucky.....when i bought mine, both left and right hub bearing assemblies were replaced.
