I have a 99 ford explorer. The other day I had to have the tint on my front side windows removed on it. The garage ended up leaving glue on the window. So I took some water and a razor blade and got it off. Now here's the problem, when I was taking the glue off of the window I rolled it down to get the very top which had glue on it. When I was cleaning the top with the razor I was pushing hard on the top of the window and heard a scraping noise and felt it scraping the very top. Now when I look at the window it looks like a tiny amount of the window was kinda scraped off by the razor. It's only a small amount, you couldn't see a difference in the window if you weren't looking for it. Now whenever I go around a slight turn going over 35 MPH I hear a slight whistle noise coming from the window. Could what I did have caused that? I know it was a long story but I really hope for some replies. Thanks.

I seriously doubt you scratched the window enough to cause the whistle. Especially since the tint was on the inside. Be sure the glass is rolled all the way up to seal properly. You might spray some silicone in the channel to lube it

Another POSSIBILITY is you actually bent the window frame slightly. Especially if the window was not near the bottom when you scratched the glass. The whistle would then be coming from between the window frame and the body. Had a Kia Sportage that would whistle in a crosswind. It doesn't take much to spring the top of the window frame. Though the Explorer is pretty tough in that area.

Hey thanks. I'm just glad it's not the window. They're expensive to replace, so I hear.

My driver side window has been making a whistling/wind noise at highway speed for a year or two now. Its at the front of the window, where it slopes down. It's annoying and I can't figure out how to fix it.

That would drive me insane. I hate whistles and rattles, they're so annoying.

If y'all haven't replaced weatherstripping yet, you may have candidate trucks... They may not be soft enough anymore to compress correctly. I had similar issues with my '95 that new weatherstripping cured.
