Rick how the heck are ya'...

In case you hadn't noticed Girlpower4x4 does all the talking for me now since it is "officially" her "X" if you know what I mean... Besides since she put the Girlpower4x4 stickers on it. I just can't seem to put myself behind the wheel, if you know what I mean..
Oh yeah Silverblade to answer your question somewhat
They had four changes roughly with the full size Broncos
78-79...The Biggest and Heaviest Broncos ever made.
80-86.. The first generation TTB front ends and were lighter too. These front ends were weaker than the earlier models but seemed to ride better, although steering seemed vague to some compared to the solid axle
87-91...Body change, Most things stayed the same with big improvements in all engines now coming with EFI.
92-96...Body change. And the E4OD is now standard, with the 96' getting the OBD II system which gave the 96' a slight edge in many ways over the 92-95's.
I have driven and seen a few Broncos in my time, but I will add these last comments to my year.
78-79 The only Full size Broncos that came from the factory with a solid front axle. They also offered the biggest engine Ford put in a Bronco as well. 400/ 6.6L
Also for a transfer case it came with a bullet proof 205.
Low transfer ratio was only 1.98 though.
Final thought, any year Bronco can work for you. I've seen em' all work. If you are looking for something newer? I would go with a 96' first and a 92-95 next.
Here is a site with more info than you probably need but it also has pics of the different years too.
Enjoy.
