I really really really want a Bronco. I love the fact they go convertable and are sooo spacious on the inside. They go for about $3K(can) around here already lifted with tires and 351 swaps. But lately I have been wanting a big truck with a chrome blower and a roll bar in mint condition(basic pavement princess lol) So i was wondering If anyone had any somewhat show condition but offroad Bronco pics?

Just wanted to say that I always loved Bronco's. I was very sad the day they stopped making them. But they did leave way for the Explorer, so that's not to bad of a trade off!

Some came stock with the 351. My dad had an 86 I believe. It was a nice truck. You gotta love the removable top, and back seat, and the power rrear window. Did they come without chain driven t-cases? I've thought about a fullsize bronc, and always wanted a gear driven t-case. I't be my DD in the winter with a plow, and my 4x4 in the summer. I'd lower the Ex and do mods for better mileage, and street performance. I need to win the lottery:(

And you can make them into a camper, too!

A bit pricey but would make a hell of a platform Dead Link Removed

You can even wash it, And drive it as an ocean beach King... If I would have known the weather was going to be that nice in May, the TOP would have been off;) Dead Link Removed

Well most of you should know this so I might as well ask instead of look it up myself lol.
What are the years that they did changes to the Bronco fullsizes(like the headlights)
78-?
?-?
?-?
etc.(like the mini versions of generations.

Rick how the heck are ya'...:) In case you hadn't noticed Girlpower4x4 does all the talking for me now since it is "officially" her "X" if you know what I mean... Besides since she put the Girlpower4x4 stickers on it. I just can't seem to put myself behind the wheel, if you know what I mean..

Oh yeah Silverblade to answer your question somewhat
They had four changes roughly with the full size Broncos
78-79...The Biggest and Heaviest Broncos ever made.
80-86.. The first generation TTB front ends and were lighter too. These front ends were weaker than the earlier models but seemed to ride better, although steering seemed vague to some compared to the solid axle
87-91...Body change, Most things stayed the same with big improvements in all engines now coming with EFI.
92-96...Body change. And the E4OD is now standard, with the 96' getting the OBD II system which gave the 96' a slight edge in many ways over the 92-95's.

I have driven and seen a few Broncos in my time, but I will add these last comments to my year.
78-79 The only Full size Broncos that came from the factory with a solid front axle. They also offered the biggest engine Ford put in a Bronco as well. 400/ 6.6L
Also for a transfer case it came with a bullet proof 205.
Low transfer ratio was only 1.98 though.

Final thought, any year Bronco can work for you. I've seen em' all work. If you are looking for something newer? I would go with a 96' first and a 92-95 next.
Here is a site with more info than you probably need but it also has pics of the different years too.
Enjoy. http://www.off-road.com/ford/bigbroncos/

I personally would love to have a bronc in the future, I hear they run forever..... (trannys better than an ex's too)

next question:rolleyes: : Do you think it is worth it for a 460(pretty much for braggin rights lol) or will a 351 move a bronco nicely?

Nothing like cubic horsepower to make a heavy truck fly! 460s are torque monsters.

I wheel with two other guys that have 460's in a 78 & 79
Bronco. My 400M gets about 20 percent better MPG's on the hwy and probably off road too. Also the 400M has the biggest of stroke of any gas engine Ford produced during this era, including the 460...
This equates directly to torque and the 400M with a few add ons can be a big block beater... A 4bbl was never offered on these motors and that is one reason people are not aware of the potential of this engine.
Example... We took our "Off Road":D rigs to the dragstrip and ran our off road tires to see just how we all did there. What a blast... The dragstrip people loved us with our unique rigs. Yes even Girlpower's Explorer took on a 96 5.0L Bronco w/5.13's and beat him...
Out of about 16 rigs only two got into the 16 second bracket. My 78' and my buddies 78' both running 38" SuperSwampers, while his had a 460. There were two other vintage Broncos with 460's that did not get into the 16's. Granted, the 460 beat me.
My point is that if you get one originally with a 400,
you may not want to throw it away. Also there are costs involved in the 460 swap which makes the dollar per H.P. go above what you can do with a 400 that's already in the truck. However, If you have a 351W now and you want more,,? Then maybe 392 cu.in. crankshaft kit for it would be a good option as well.
Good luck, whatever you do. ;)
