Who Knows About An S2000?

VTEC as I understand it is variable valve timing and duration for different RPMs and conditions. The S2000's engine changes many parameters about 6000 RPM, picking up the power.

The S2000 is slow unless you really wail on take off and wind the sucker to 9 grand. I have driven one and it wasn't all that impressive to me. 0-60 in 6 seconds is fast of a Honda but just lacks the low end torque of any motor, 156 lbft at @6200 rpm just doesn't satisfy my thirst for speed.

On the new Accords and Civics and RSX's ect. you really can't tell a difference of when VTEC kicks in because it occurs so smoothly now. But the S2000 you can definitly tell a difference as the speed picks up very quickly and the engine sound changes from a ricer buzz to an F1 wail.

Exactly what he said, I had to drop-clutch my friends car at about 6500rpm to get any good acceleration. It does run about 6 seconds flat, but does not feel like it at all, doesn't have that press you into the seat feeling, you can thank the meager 156lbft tq at 6200rpm.

i just wanted to say that i was one of the passengers in the car at the time and am puzzled by this. If any of you had seen how hard his car was lurching, you would have been amazed. It was a brand new S 2000, and we were even for a little bit, about 3rd gear or before he pulled a wee bit. Now im not sure if he was flooring it, but for a car with such a stiff suspension, that thing was being slammed back.

my boss has one of those, it looks pretty sweet, and he babies it like crazy. has a standing challenge out to all of his son's (another employee of the store, 17 like me) friends that he'll give them $1k if they can beat him in a race, and of course they are all driving riced out civics, so they cant touch him :p

Can i try him?:D

I would think - No Contests Whatsoever -:D

By the way, I love your sig w/ the ricer and girl thing:thumbsup:

i dont know...mabye. if your ever in the area stop by Marine Fish off of Johnson ferry. im sure he'll race you, mabye not for $$ though.

booo, there is no fun if there is no money:p :p :p

and no fun in smoking the hell outta a Honda, well, actually, it is fun putting a honda owner in it's place. And at least its a Honda that could keep up enough to see your tailights, the other ricers would just see some kinda lights moving away from them towards the horizon;)

2001gtBoy - what kind of mods do you have on your stang?

Also, did you just stick that M5 in there, I know there was a GTS stang, but never heard of an M5 version:p

M5 means 5 speed manual silly:o Right now im on a repair situation. I got a flat and a bashed front bumper, not related at all. Other then that i have K&N, Full Cold Air Induction from fender to T/B, custom slack removal from gas pedal ( Mustangs come out of the factory with a slight defect, when u hit the pedal it hit the ground, yet there is still some space to open the butterfly, so i added a spacer to removed all the slack), short throw shifter, Cobra R rims on Khumos, with custom 10.5 inchers in the rear, Off Road H pipe, with Single Chamber Race Mufflers w/ no tail pipes. Thats all i can think off right now:)

ha, right after I said that, I though "oh wait I think it mean 5 speed manual", oops:o .

ahhh, the one chambers, ummmm = deafning loud:D

a friend had an off road H-Pipe (I think bbk) with the one chambers on his 01' Cobra along w/ just about every bolt-on, the dohc engine is insanley loud with that setup and we scared the piss outta anyone that wanted to race us just by reving it. He ended up taking it off and installing a Magnaflow X-Pipe and Magnaflow Cat-Back, drool...., the sound is so exotic on the dohc engine.

I wanted a Cobra so bad, mom and I went to the dealer a few times and I even took her for a ride in my friends 01' and anothers 03' (pretty sick car), but I still loved being in a truck. So I'm ending up with an 02' Mounty w/ the 4.6 V8. KenneBell has a twin-scew charger now for that engine, thinking about getting it for the Mounty, hook your GT up with it;) :D

Yes it is, and i love every bit of it. I like the mean raspy snarl of the engine as oppose to the exotic tone. My friend has a yellow saleen, with basani cat back and X pipe, very exotic! But i found it fitting for the car, but for my car, im sure others would agree that the pure smell and sound of the 4.6 reving is plenty enough :) :) :)

ha thats funny - 2001GTBOY - you use the same name on Stangnet, or at least I think it's you. I'm always on that board and was reading a post about the guy running low 13's on his GT, seems like your the only one supporting him. I think it's quite possible in a GT to run those times w/ a good driver, I mean his et and mph match up pretty well so....

hehe using the same name has it advantages hehe. Yeah i mean common, the guy asks about modifying his car for faster times and people are stuck on the times he claims. as if he has to actually proove it to them to get their advise.........

Where do you live in Atlanta? One of my cousins lives in Peachtree City and the another lives in Marietta. Peachtree is way to "happy happy" for me everyone there reminds me of the Brady Bunch. But they got some crazy hills there that we used to skate down.

Well i lived right off of Lenox Mall in Buckhead for a while but our lease just ended and my mom and I moved out to Chamble Tucker, all im seing in Chamble is rice.....lots of it.
