You may be able to work with the stock unit or fit one from another Ford block.

I have seen all kinds of TB used on different engines with a little machine work.
Also with the 2.9L it was very popular to use the 86-87 throttle body (larger then other years of the 2.9L @ 58mm) then machine the lip on the leading edge down with a dremmel, and machine the butterfly a little. I have even seen the bored out to 60 or so mm and fit with a new larger butterfly from a different engine. So itis just a matter of looking around really!
