What'ss up with Fan Clutch

I just replaced a 3rd Fan Clutch in the last 4 months. They have all been purchased from NAPA Auto Parts, new not rebuilt. The first one last about 3 days before it locked up, the second lasted about 3 months then locked up and the 3rd didn't work at all. I'm on the forth, luckily all under warranty. Is it just NAPA brand and if so anybody no of a good brand.

Yes, I had a similar problem. Replaced the original with a NAPA clutch. It failed after about a year or 2. The second NAPA fan clutch didn't work at all (stayed in freewheeling mode). The store took it back and gave me another, which is OK, so far. The NAPA store was not aware of any problems with them.

I don't know what other brands are out there. Maybe we should convert to electric fans, but they have their problems, too.

Why not get an OEM Ford fan clutch?

FYI, some people here tried converting to electrical fan setup and they had cooling problems.

Ford Fan clutch

I got tired of screwing with the aftermarket clutches and went to my local dealer and got a Ford fan clutch last week end. I don't know how long it will last but it was worth the $80.00 just because of the reduced noise.
It also looks like my truck is running a bit cooler...

In my experience retail store clutch fans are junk . I always buy OEM clutch fans . Theyll last as long as the original with no problems.

No, but as long as it's OEM it should be alright.

Yea i got my clutch from ford. Its a super duty one, its a little loud, but it works great!!!!
