i put a pioneer 12 inch tsw301r with a pyramid royal red 1600 watt pb1045x amp but with only 2 channels bridged and it blew my sub in like 15 minutes, the amp went into protection mode. does anybody know why it blew?

It's been years since I messed with speakers but I would say the electricy spiked sending more than the 800watt peak to the speaker. Also the info I read shows 110 rms per channel on the amp, so 220 rms bridged.
Edit: scratch that, I thought the speaker was 2ohms, it's 4 so it should be 75 rms each. My guess is the amp got a power surge.
I had a buddy who installed systems for a living and he swore by resistors. He also messed with capacitors but those can be a headache in and of themselves and not to mention they can be VERY dangerous. I'd look into the resistors, setup correctly they will keep the power from surging and damaging your amp. The worst thing that could happen is the sound fading due to power drops, but using 800 amps peak you shouldn't have to worry unless you already have issues with your alternator.
it blew because your amp is very very low quality and was likely putting out a heavy clipped dirty signal which built too much heat in your voice coil and burnt it

I'm quoting this because it's very true. If you're going to go generic plus quality, then at least make the amp quality and the subs generic. Generic amps can and will destroy even the best of subs even if you put low power generic amps with high power subs. The problem is the signal is so dirty and unreliable it is worthless.
wagonized said pretty much the same thing i was gonna say. if you do the same thing as last time you may just blow them again. there's no way to tell if a signal is clipping. some say you can tell by ear...which to an extent you can, but the real way is to use an o-scope

I thought this was a possibility but I've been out of car audio so long I don't know what is quality equipment anymore. Heck last time I was into it JBL and Infinity were the best speakers around....
distortion kills most subs,, as he said , unclean signal input,, , get a better amp, not better subs, more can be accomplished with clean and efficent power than with dirty substandard noise,, keep the 10's , trash heep the amp,,,
well i hooked up the 10s and they sound pretty good, better than the pioneer. and im selling this stuff and buying 2 alpine 10s in a box of some sort and an alpine amp from my friends brother for 100 bucks

low quality amps will work just fine...as long as they are used within their limits. Thing is that people try to get more power out of the amps than the amps are rated for causing major clipping. Also I don't understand what you mean by the signal being "unreliable".
