wider ratio transmission

Is anyone running a wider range transmission than the stock M5R2?

I believe that tranny is on full-sized trucks. Ours is R1. That said there aren't options for bolt on replacement other than the R1HD from a 4.0L SOHC Ranger. IIRC, first gear is slightly shorter.

I think the M5R1s that are in Rangers with the 2.3 engine have a lower first, and maybe second, but I don't recall if the bell housing bolt pattern is the same or not.

I know the M5R1HDs in the 4.0 SOHC Explorers and probably Rangers have a lower first gear. Second is the same though.
