Will 22s rub?

Holy mother of G*d. You're not kidding!

Yes. It gets sort of irritating because people come onto this board and think they can just throw some oversized wheels on and bag it and be fine. No, that is definately not the case. It takes some real knowledge to do the fabrication yourself, and it will easily cost 10k for bagging and body drop on 20s. Imagine what it would be with 22s. I'm not even sure it's physically possible up front because the rims would be pretty damn close to the top of the fender.

Remember, we're not talking about just any other vehicle here, we're talking about an Explorer. There are no "bolt on" kits available, everything must be made from scratch.

Yeah, I agree with ya Hartman, but I think the guy now wants to just lower it a few inches and throw some 22's on it.

DroppedKamelion

aight maybe ill jus drop the bags, get the 22s, and lower it 3 inches.

im kinda confused now though, cuz im trynna decide between some 22s and some 20 inch spinnas.....

So now we are makin suggestions on if he sould get 22's or 20 spinners. I say 22's becaue 20s are becomin too common and you are gettin a good deal on them.

to lay frame on 22's in an explorer i think you would have to have wheel bubbles in the hood.

aight well im decided on either

22s with 3 inch drop

orrrr
spinnaz with 5 inch drop

yea ive been listening to that "Riddin Spinnaz" for a little while now. Lil Flip (the guy who raps the second verse) is from my hometown

I think that spinners are a phase and will soon be out of style. While some 22s look good, my vote is still for a nice set of 20s.

What is "aight"? I'm a little confuse and it doesn't take much to that...

aight is short for "all right"

Just food for thought..........maybe there is a reason that no one puts 22s on Explorers.

Well there are some people that do Robb, but not a lot because it's just not practical for a daily driver. There is a person around here with a 99 Sport with 22s, and the rims are classy and they don't look half bad.

Man, I want to roll on 22s because where I come from, and the kind of cars i like are slabs....you know, kandy paint, woodgrain dash, leather interior, tvs fallin', radio settin off car alarmas, and wheels big like ferris wheels....maybe ill save up the extra 1500 and get 22" spinners........pull all the females with that....

DroppedKamelion, don't make a decision based on what everybody else has. Do what YOU want to do. It's not smart to drain your bank account on 22s just because you want to complete with these other guys (not to say that you can't afford them, because I have no idea).

oh Hartman dont get me wrong. While thats what everyone rides around here, thats what I like, you know? While I do it to look good and impress people, if theres something I want that most people probalyy wouldnt like, Im still gonna get it. I didnt mean 2 sound like Im trying 2 compete or anything. Im probally going to go ahead and go fo the spinners (about 500 more than the 22s w/ tires) but I dont know. I was looking at these AWESOME spinners that where All Chrome Daytons that keep spinning....the wire rims....it was TIGHT (at least too me)

also i ment to ask this in the last post, but is 22x9 a good size to have?

lol I just talked to my grandpa, and told him about the rims i was planning on getting. He said he saw someone on some, and started to yell at them to tell them something was wrong till he seen both tires spinning. I was rollin!

anyway back to the original question, will 22s with 3 inches of drop rub?

we dont really know. you want to do what no one here has ever really done before (22's with a drop). they may rub, they may not. if you're going with a 22x9 and a 285/30/22, they probably wont rub too bad. that tire is an inch shorter than and about the same width as the 275/45/20 that everyone else here runs. it has a 3.4 inch sidewall, which i imagine coupled with a 2-3" drop will ride like something i cant even imagine.
