Hey you all! I know there's a couple of you out there running 275/70/16 (31.15X10.82X16) tires on your trucks. Does this rub at all? I was actually planning on getting 265/75/16, wich would be a bit thinner and higher, but some stupid rules don't alow me to increase the wheelsize more than 5% from stock, and that would be 5,3%, so I have to come up with something else... Anyone of you have any experiense with this size on a truck with abt. 1.5" of lift?

Yes, that's right...After almost a year of waiting MY TRUCK IS FINALLY LIFTED!!! I used the addaleaf and twisted up the torsionbars a little bit, and it rides great!! And I have no problems with the loadleveling eighter... It rides so much better than stock.. Now I just can't wait to get my new tires(If I can just descide on wich ones...)

I would think the 275/70R16 is a bit too wide for your truck. I have 265/70 and have seen evidence of the inside of the tire rubing the front sway bar at full lock. The r8ub i have is nothing I would even worry about, but with a 275 it might be worse. Why can't you go over 5% larger??

ALso for tires I have the Michelin Cross Terrain and love them. very quiet and ride is way better then any other tire I've had (WIlderness AT or BFG Long Trail)

this 5% law is some stupid thing the government has made up.. I guess I might be able to get an authorisation, but it would be a lot of paperwork I guess, since noone has done it on an explorer before.. I think maybe it is an old rule that had something to do with a tax they had on diesel pr. km earlyer, and maybe something with the breaks, but I'm not sure.. All I now is we have this stupid law, and there's no easy way of bending it..

I did some cheacking on the tires, and when I did a diagonal measure, from front left side to back right side on the tire(as seen from the top if you understand what I mean), that measure is 83.78 cm on the 275s I want and 84.64 on the 265/75/16s I know will fit without rubbing. If I'm thinking correctly this will be the longest clearance I need, so I guess it will work out just fine. If you think about it they're just a little bit taller and wider than a 31X10.5" tire, wich I've seen several people on here claiming they have without rubbing at all..

Anyway, I've already ordered them, and I'll get them tomorrow. the tireguy was nice enouth to let me mount them and see if they fit before I buy them, so I guess there'll be no problems...

Thanks anyway... I'll give you some update when I get them on...

Ok, good luck.

275/70/16 do fit!!!

I picked up my truck with the new tires on yesterday, and MAN they look great! And it rides great! So much better than the old fireslics.. I tried to "twist" the truck up a bit yesterday, and it actually doesn't rub more than the stock tires it seems(they also rubbet a little bit when the susp. was at full compression..)

Finally my truck doesn't look like all the others anymore, now it looks more like a mean badass offroader, and I'm sooooo happy about it!

Cool. Let us know whan you get updated pics! Glad to hear they fit. I just wasn't sure how much wider they were...thats why I posted earlier about them.
glad to hear they work!
