I have a 94 sport and I'm riding comfortably on 31x10.50x15 tires with no clearance problems on road or off. With a 3" body lift, does anyone know if 33x10.50x15 would fit? Also, does anyone know who sells complete (I stress complete like both front and rear relocation brackets) body lifts for the explorer? Any help would be appreciated.
hey I would probably say if you are fitting 31's with no lift I would think they would work, I myself have done the coil spring lift with shackles in the back for two extra inches of lift and a three inch body lift , and I will be running thirty three inch boggers on fifteen by ten inch wheels.

BGRACEN, I ran 33x9.5 BFGs on the stock rims with a 2" B/L for almost 4 years. That was probly the best the vehicle ever was as an "all around SUV". It handle like stock but had the added traction and ground clearance. Yes the tires fit fine (a little contact at full turn and compression on the inside of the plastic well). I then stepped up to 4:56 gears and a front locker with the same tires (really a nice ride then). Then I lifted it and added 35's. I,m still fine tooning it after 2 years. It doesn't ride as well as stock (DARN!) but it's near unstopable.
rockylaruence,
What gears were you running before the 4:56's and how was the performance (accelleration, low range, and highway cruising). Also, how did your stock brakes handle the extra weight of the 33's?
bgracen,
I put a 3" body lift on my explorer.I'm running 33-12.50's with factory 373 gears.I've lost some power but not as bad as I thought it was going to be.As for brakes go, I have had no problems.I had to trim the back of the inner fender wells some. The first time out with this set up I broke the auto hubs.Went with warn manual hubs.
Bgracen; I had the Sport with 3:73's and noticed little lose of performance with the 33's (I agree with Young). However, my Auto tranny always wanted to kick into O/D early (around 35-40 mph) this would boog-down the engine a little. P.S. The only time you'll notice a lose of power is when your loaded-up with a bunch of LARGE adults or when towing.

Does anyone know who is "the man" to speak to about gearing sizes? I'm on the stock 3.55 gears on the 31's, on a tired engine (180k). I put on about 40k a year, I offroad about 50 days a year, and I tow close to 4000 pounds fairly frequently. Which gear selection would be preferable for good power, and not revving the explorer (auto overdrive trans) on the highway? Ahen I switch to 33's, would 4.10's be enough? or should I go with 4.56's?
Go with 4:56's. The diff between the 4:10's & 4;56's is only 7% so go with the lower gear for the added power--it won't affect milage much. I ran 4:56's with 33's for over a year (I liked it).
