Will 96 4.0 work in a 94

I have a 94 Explorer 4.0 with a bad motor. I can get a wrecked 96 Explorer real cheap. Will the 96 motor work in the 94. If so, will I have to change intake manifolds?

you will have to change a few parts yes, but the OHV block didnt change much really 91-2001

You can use a OHV from a 95-2001 Ranger or explorer, just strip it down to the long block and use all the parts/accessories/intakes/sensors/wiring/exhaust/oil pan, etc from your 1994

the 95+ 4.0L has a different oil pan and pickup tube to clear the IFS suspension, so you will want to use the 94 pan

dont get rid of your 94 engine until AFTER you get the 96 in and running!!!
