I have a '00 Explorer with the 4.0 OHV. I replaced the heads due to the typically cracked head coolant leak. However I am burning about a quart every 200 miles. A guys is selling a '98 4.0 OHV engine. I'm thinking about just swapping out the whole engine. Does anyone know if the '98 will work? Do I need to modify anything. I'm assuming I may need to change the intake due to the return-less fuel system.

Thanks,

Jim

Yes you can make it work in your 2000 and like you said you will need to change the fuel rail but I think the intake setup is the same but you will want to double check. Also check a couple other things too something simple could be different. For instance with my sohc the 98 I put into the 00 the knock sensor changed. So just go over the motor well before swapping it in.

Thanks for the quick reply and tips. All good advice.

Jim
