That amp won't throw near the power those subs can handle.

RMS, or rated power, is the maximum power a sub can provide continuously. Peak power, for all intents and purposes is pretty pointless.

The idea is to match the RMS of the amp to the RMS that the subs can handle.

Beyond that you need to make sure the numbers you are matching are both using the same relative OHM spec.

In your case, the subs are 4-ohm and can handle 500 watts RMS. So to maximize the power they can handle (w/2 of these subs) you need to find an amp with 500 watt RMS rating (@4 ohms) per channel. Note on the amp the difference between its 2 and 4 ohm power rating. This is because you can choose a variety of ways to run this amp.

This is a 4 channel amp too, which you really don't need if all you are doing with it is powering the 2 subs.

Basically, try to find a 2 channel amp with a 500 watt RMS power rating at 4 ohms per channel and you'll be set. You can run an amp with a lower rating but I would highly recommend having a shop tune it for you then. You risk blowing the subs and the amp if you don't run it correctly (not necessarily, but it could happen). When you are looking at spending this kind of money, pay the extra $30 and protect your investment.

Hope this helps!

If you ran that amp to the 2 subs listed, you would be looking at 200-300rms to each sub. Not bad and should work. I would use your current amp to run the 4 doors and get a different amp for the subs. I would use the T1000-1bdCP or the P1000-1bd to run 2 of those subs.

What if i only get 1 Sub woofer for now would that amp power that 1 sub well ?

You could run one sub off the rear 2 channels bridged.

The one to keep in mind when using Rockford amps, they under rate them. I have the P400-2 and P500-1bd in my truck. The P400-2 is rated at 100x2 but its birth chart said it tested at 150x2. The P500-1bd is rated at 500x1 at 1 ohm, but the birth chart said it tested at 698x1 at 1 ohm.

whats your budget on subs and amps? that last amp will not work with the sub you listed. That amp puts out most power at 4 ohms and the sub can only be wired to 2 ohms or 8 ohms.

Right now im trying to stick with Rockfords im returning my amp and buying a new 1. i was going to try and stay with the P3 12in Subs. but if you can suggest something else Rockford sells that you think might be better. i dont really have a set limit its how much i wanna put into my audio project on my car.

A god rule of thumb is, you want the power of your amp to be around what the RMS is of your subs. So if your running 2 subs and they RMS at 500 watts each, you want your around 1000 watts.

Now, this is not the case in all situations. Some setups you can run up to the Max of the sub. So if your subs peak at 1000 watts each, you could run up to a 2000 watt amp.

Rockford subs can be a little power hungry, I know the Power series are. But they are still great woofers. A friend of mine had one Power T1 10" and was using an amp that was exactly what the RMS was for the sub, sounded like crap. Then he bought a bigger amp and used the same box and, holy s**t!!

I'm running the P500-1bd to 2 JL 10W3v2's, by rated power I'm underpowering my subs by 50 watts each. But because they under rate their amps, I'm actually just above RMS.

If I were you, I'd run nothing smaller than the P700-1bd.
