Guys I know that you hate seeing someone ask about MAS, however, if that sensor is causing a ping, and you unplug it and keep the car running, should the ping still be there or no? Thanks guys. FYI...any questions on lifters, push rods, valve springs, valves, let me know, just replaced everybit of it myself trying to get things right. It seems if I have gone backwards here b/c the hard stuff is done, and now I am resorting to sensors. PLease help with a ping on acceleration on load only. Will not do it in park! This is at 2000 rpm and up. Will not idle at all also. Help guys. I can answer any quesitons however with the motor. THanks again. Seth

Hi seth, have you ruled out a vacuum leak? It sounds to me like it could definitely be one.

Unplugging sensors is NOT any indication on how they preform. I agree with Jason on the vacuum leak. The ping is most likely due to lean air /fuel ratio. The most common cause of this is a vacuum leak allowing more air to enter the engine than the MAS is reading, therefore leaning out the A/F ratio.
