Will this work 96 4.0 OHV EX motor to 2000 4.0 OHV?

I found an engine off a 96 Explorer it is OHV (over head Vales) and the intake look exactly the same as my 2000. I am wondering if anyone know if that is a good transpant? My crank shaft is about to go as well as head gasket..

I beleave so.....i think that the 4.0 ohv are all the same...but the wireing hardess might be a little diffrent..........you probly could use a 4.0 out of a 90 ranger

Thanks for the info... I got a new complete 4.0 OHV from Dearborn and in the process of installing it.

there is a power difference between the engines if i remember right. Maybe its just the SOHC engines, i havent looked at this extremely thoughly but there is a HP difference. the 96 has like 160ish and i believe the 00 has more thant that.
