I need to fix the window motors on my 91 x. I wonder if anyone can tell me the excact or close, measurements for the bushings to make them myself somehow. Jeff Singleton's site suggests a bolt ground down to 10mm in diameter and cut 12 mm long,x3 for each motor. What are the measurements in inches? Does anyone know of anything else I can use besides metal? I don't like the sounds of possible metal fragments getting in the electric motor. I'd imagine that is why the factory used nylon. Anyway, we're going out to take it apart to see what we've got goin on in there.
Thanx
Peace

When you take it out (which isn't too hard to do) you will probably find all of the nylon bushing crushed up inside. IMO, you should replace them with small ball bearings. I was going to replace mine with some, but I believe that I fried the whole window motor when I kept trying to use it with the crushed bushings.

Why not order the nylon busings? Do they not have them there?

You can't buy them here, it seems they only want to sell you the whole window motor and regulator, $133. We fixed it for $3. Nice difference Eh??. We fabricated metal bushings out of 10mm diameter steel rod. Works excellent. Also they probably won't wear out as fast as the nylon bushings if at all. Thanks anyway.

Well glad it worked for you. I would have bought some for you here in the states and mailed them to you, but postage perhaps makes it unreasonable to send. Explain what you did with the metal rod? You cut them down to size and it worked?

Thanks for the offer. We used bolts that are only threaded half way down. 10mm in diameter. We cut off the thread part, then we cut three pieces 10mm long off of the smooth part for each window motor, filed any burrs off and rounded off the ends. Perfect bushings. We can't remember who gave us this idea, but thanks whoever it was. Actually, I think it was out of Jeff Singleton's list of usefull threads.
Peace
