Hey all,

Went to lower the 'ol passenger side window today and nada!
Tried it from both the driver's switch, and the passenger switch.
Didn't hear anything either (like it was trying to run or anything like that)
Could it be anything else but the window motor itself?

Thanks
Aris

Window Problem

My bet would be the window motor. In my 2003, I have had 3 out of four replaced, and one of the three, twice.

I have owned fords all my life, and the 2003 Explorer is by far the worst vehicle I have ever owned.

Good luck on the window

Ridiculous! Warranty is one thing, but when it expires, it's a whole different ball game!

Yeah, my extended warranty goes out Saturday (16th). Anyway, sounds like the motor more than anything. You could possible have a wiring problem, but more than likely it's just the motor.

it may be on the way out...but, magically it's working today!

Here is the quick test for a window faulty window motor...

Turn key to the on position (engine off)

Open any door so interior lights come on.

Press the window switch on the window that isn't working.

If you have a bad motor the interior lights will dim and the window wont move. It helps to do this in a garage or at night.

If you have some other wiring issue the lights won't dim (such as a bad switch, fuse).

When the lights dim you know the circut is complete to the window motor and the motor is inop.

Great tip, thanks!

I'm having the same exact problem. Tried it and the lights dimmed. Main issue is that the window is down. Can I just force it up without damaging anything?
