i know that the explorer should, according to the manual, let the windows work for 5 minutes after the vehicle is turned off, and the doors have not been open, that' how it goes..... at least according to my manual...

You are correct.
It is tied to the drivers door, its waiting for you to get out.
What does it do if you hit the lock on the remote while you are inside?
